Energy poverty: Opportunities and complexities in Eastern Europe
Thursday — 11:30 - 12:30
The Balkans have some of the highest rates of energy poverty in Europe. How can we build renovation programs with special attention to the most vulnerable communities in this region?
Mincho Benov from Habitat Bulgaria will share the important contextual elements of helping energy poor households and how they have effectively engaged with groups such as the Roma community.
He will be joined by Georgi Georgiev, Architect and PhD, Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture at New Bulgarian University. He is a Chartered member of UK Chartered Institute of Housing, with long term experience in sustainable development, housing policy, urban and environmental planning and management in transition economies.
