WIN Spain prioritises renovations for vulnerable households!

On May 22nd Spanish Parliament passed the climate law and included a stress on renovations for vulnerable people. Coalition member ECODES led on this campaign, alongside other Spanish environmental and social solidarity groups, to ensure vulnerable households gained access to decent, efficient housing. This is a huge win for tackling energy poverty.
Here is the wording:
Artículo 8. Eficiencia energética y rehabilitación de edificios.
1. El Gobierno promoverá y facilitará el uso eficiente de la energía, la gestión de la demanda y el uso de energía procedente de fuentes renovables en el ámbito de la edificación, sin perjuicio de las competencias que correspondan a las Comunidades Autónomas, con especial referencia a los edificios habitados por personas en situaciones de vulnerabilidad.

Article 8. Energy efficiency and buildings renovations

The Government will foster and encourgage the efficient use of energy, demand management and the use of energy from renewable sources in the field of buildings, without prejudice to competencies which correspond to the Regional Governments, with special reference to buildings inhabited by people in vulnerable situations.
